do you have a party to go to this year? if so, i’m always interested to see what costumes people come up with. sometimes it’s classic halloween characters (ninja, witch, ghost, etc.), sometimes it’s movie characters, and sometimes it’s random items (i’ve seen someone dressed as a banana before). for women, it’s usually the slutty version of any of those things, but i really love it when females dress up in unique and smart costumes. a friend of mine was a pencil a few years ago—no, not a slutty pencil. just a pencil.
i, for one, like empowering, kick-ass female heroines in movies and comics. i also tend to like the less revealing type of costume. so, who have i been looking at?
chun li from street fighter. a kick-ass video game heroine who’s instantly recognizable by her blue cheongsam and double buns with ribbons.
faith from EA game’s mirrror’s edge. a more recent kick-ass game heroine, she breaks boundaries in terms of physicality, in her more realistic athletic build and costume. also, i love that she can do hand-to-hand combat, weapons, AND does parkour. hardcore parkour!
quorra from tron legacy. kicks butt and looks good doing it.
those are the three i’m choosing from. how about you? will you be dressing up this year and if so, what would you want to be?
btw, i always thought being a swiss army knife would be an AWESOME costume. can you imagine raising your arm and having a bunch of human-sized accessories (screw driver, scissor, etc.) pop out? :D
the internet’s been crazy a-buzz with the passing of steve jobs yesterday. an innovator in technology and design, he’s left a tangible and undeniable legacy for the world. he also left some very inspiring and motivating words to the rest of us…
“Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice.”
“Have the courage to follow your heart & intuition. They already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
“If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.”
i found a post by jenna from sweetfineday and her own relationship with apple and the impact steve jobs’ creations and ideas have influenced her. good post.
